Yesterday, at one of our classes, our teacher brought us some interesting (and quite worrying) facts about our Planet and its population...

In XVIII th century, the world population grew with 300 millions, in XIX th century, with 600 millions, and in XX th century, with more 4.4 billion people.
78 % of world's population is classified as being poor (under 11 $/day).
Half of world's population never made a phone call.
The Average number of cars in the world is of 90 at 1000 persons. If India, China and Indonesia were to reach the the same amount, other 200 millions of cars were needed (which is the double of US's current amount of cars).
The amount of meat consumed globally has tripled since 1961. In China, the amount is 13 times bigger.
1 billion of children (out of the 2.2 billions in the whole world) experience a very difficult childhood due to poverty, AIDS, or war. (UNICEF report, 2004).
Diarrhea kills 3.3 millions of children under the age of 5, each year, due to lack of clean water and hygiene.
12 % of world's population uses 85 % of the water supplies, the richest 20 % of people in the whole world using 86 % of all natural resources.
250 millions of children everywhere are working in agriculture, mines, or in the adult entertainment industry (aprox. 8 millions as slaves or by force).
80 % of global energy production comes from limited resources of fossil fuels, and only 0.02 % comes from regenerable resources - wind and solar energy.

Less than 1 % of the total amount of money spent each year on weapons would be sufficient for all children in the world to be able to go to school.
Out of 7100 species of fruits existent in 1800, today we can only find around 1000, and the modern agricultural methods only favor the intensive production of a few of them.
40 % of the global amount of fish is being caught at the limit of its biological capacity of reproduction. In the XXth century the amount of fish caught was 35 times larger than the past century.
60% of the total loss of tropical forests, reported ever since our civilisation appeared, has occured after year 1900.
The global number of non-governmental organisations has greatly increased after 1950. Today it is being estimated to have reached at least 1 million.
In Brazil, 73 % of aluminium cans have been recycled in '99, marking the foundation of an industry worth 55 millions dollars.

Finally, I've just finished watching God Bless You - Luna Sea's 2007 concert at Tokyo Dome. I wanted to watch it a few days ago, but the fact that the concert was rendered in a not-so-high quality kinda killed my enthusiasm. Anyway, as expected, the whole show was magnificent.
I must say when I first saw the band live (a tv live performance, I think), a long while ago, I wasn't too convinced of Ryuichi's talent and stage presence, but gradually, I started liking him more and more. And in this concert, he's so lovely and squeezable, all cute and chubby and doing funny dance moves. His facial expressions and powerful voice and intense performance did all the rest. Other than that, they all gave their best and more. And J looked just as good as ever. Too good, actually.

Some of my favorites were: Loveless, Deja-vu, Jesus, Slave (first time hearing it), End of Sorrow, Face to Face (I almost jumped on my bed when I heard the introduction XD), Rasen (the latter part is simply out of this world), Providence...Sugizo's violin is so sweet and soft and tearing...Rosier, Tonight, I for you (the beauty of it is gently killing me every time), In my dream, and of course, the ever-so-heartbreaking song "Mother".

And that was it, in short. (enough blabbering about that, right?:P)

Other than that, I've spent this past week watching some dramas and stuff...I know only few of you like to watch dramas, but anyway, I'll say a few things about what I've seen: Kimi wa petto - this one is so retarded, I can't even begin to describe it...it's about a powerful independent woman who gets a boy as her pet. And from then on, I can't seem to figure out what the hell is their relationship, or what on earth are they doing with their lives. Not to watch, in my opinion.
Then, Mr. Brain: it's supposed to be a comedy, a detective-story drama. It's nice, if you get over the annoying insert songs that you can hear everytime the main characters solve the case or have certain revelations. And it's somehow funny. Some of the episodes actually told interesting and sad stories...like the story of a boy who suffered from short time memory, and whose life kept flowing by without him actually living, since he couldn't hold any memories. His only comfort was the piano, and his compositions were the memories of his feelings, thus making it easy for him to relive his past life through his music. Another story I liked was the one about a poor child who had been kidnapped and kept hidden and abused for 15 years in a dark basement where the only light would come from the t.v. Once gotten out of that hell, the intensity of her emotions would take over her and turn her into a violent person. I couldn't help but sympathize with her, while she was shooting the people around her randomly: what could she do then, when half of her life had been ruined, after she'd suffered so much in silence. What else could have been left in her...I, for one, couldn't ask for her to still have the power to forgive or still be completely sane. You think that's unlikely to happen? A while ago I read an article about an 11 years old girl that had been kidnapped and held hidden for 18 years, and had given birth to 2 kids. To imagine such a cruelty is painful enough, but to live it...

Anyway, moving on. The most recent drama, Bloody Monday, really got me hooked up immediately. In short, it's about a group of terrorists planning to attack the people of Tokyo with a deadly virus. Again, I couldn't help but feel the despair and sadness that such a cruel deed could bring upon people. Honestly, I recommend this series to whoever has enough free time to check it out. Here's a fan made video that I liked. ^^

Bloody Monday

Other than that, I came across some show, Cartoon Kat-tun, where certain celebrities are invited. It's quite entertaining, especialy since from what I've see so far, some of them are hilariously crazy ;)). Some of my favorites were the ones where the guests were Becky, Maya Miki, Toda Erika (which actually made me believe in clairvoyants :| ), MCU (of course, because he took part in the Fest Parade XD) and L'arc en ciel - Hyde and Ken, and other j-drama actors I liked. But anyway, now I'm trying to watch all episodes, and see what other funny/interesting people hide in Japan ;))

On a sadder note...I have 10 more days of vacation. Then the dream will end. Third year of college, and I feel like a high-schooler. Sigh...

Recently I've started watching Dae Jang-Geum...and slowly I've kinda become addicted to it...The problem is I used to watch it on aznv.tv, but at some point my computer stopped working and i had to restart it (while i was watching an episode) and ever since, i cannot connect to the server anymore...now, i don't know how long it will take to get back to normal, but i just can't sit around waiting...so if anyone knows some websites where i can watch dramas, it would be really helpful. I've already checked mysoju.com and animecrazy.net and i didn't find what i was looking for :(...
ah, and i'm dying to know what happens next >.<

A little while ago i started watching some Queen videos and enjoying their songs, which i haven't done for a few years...i can't say i know all of their songs well, still, they're one of the first bands i listened ever since i was only 2-3 years old, so i kinda grew up with their music. The death of Freddie Mercury is one of the few things that depress me, he was truly an amazing artist, and one of my very few favorite singers.

I got it from my mail ID...I had a strange preference for the idea of a black rose back then and the number, well, since the association of words wasn't the most original ever, i couldn't sign up just like that, so i had to come up with smth and i picked a round number - 45000.

Well, on december 31st last year, this I guy i knew made me watch the first episode of Trinity Blood...I liked the song, then searched on gendou and found kagerou and gessekai - instant killers...the rest is history ;))

My, what a wonderful thought...uhm...first: move to Japan...once there, going to BT concerts, buying all the BT stuff out there - these don't even need to be mentioned...and then, go visit tons of places around the world with my dear ones and also try to save as many animals i can...yep...these are probably the three major things that bug me...there may be others, just can't think of them right now...
